Nourish to Flourish
Simple Ways to Feed Your Body, Mind, and Spirit

It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle of our very busy lives and forget that self-care starts with nourishment. Not just for your body, but for your mind and spirit too. True self-care isn’t about doing everything perfectly—it’s about consistently giving yourself what you need to feel whole, energized, and supported. These things are so much more important that that weekly mani pedi (although we LOVE a good mani pedi) right??
When you nourish yourself (in every area), you set the stage for every single area of your life to thrive. Energy flows where care is given, and when you’re taken care of, everything else feels a little lighter. Don't we want to feel lighter?
1. Nourish Your Body
Feed your body with love and intention. This doesn’t mean dieting or chasing perfection—it means listening to your body’s needs. Drink plenty of water, enjoy colorful meals, move in ways that feel joyful, and honor your need for rest. Have you ever noticed the difference in how you feel when you have eaten something that is going to nourish your body that when you don't? How about how sluggish you feel when you eat a heavy perhaps greasy meal? If you don't eat well, you don't feel well and it gets harder to do the things you know you need to do. When your body feels good, everything else gets easier.
Some ways you can nourish your body include but are not limited to:
Drinking more water. Most of us aren't drinking enough. I know that I struggle getting enough water. It's not because I don't love water, because I do. It's just that I am not a huge drinker of anything. I've never been much of a volume drinker. As a result, I struggle with getting enough water and I have to be very intentional about it. Some ways I assist is by eating fruits and vegetables with high water content like watermelon, cucumbers and salads. If our bodies are comprised of about 70 percent water and we are only drinking about 10% of what our bodies need, how well can you possibly expect your body to function?
Getting at least 20 minutes of sun per day sans sunblock. Hear me out. Do I believe sunscreen and sunblock have their place? Yes. Here is where I insert a strong BUT. Although too much sun can be bad, we need the sun for a myriad of things. We have to be in balance. Our cells need Vitamin D. There is no way around that. In fact, studies have shown that most adults are deficient in Vitamin D. Why? Lack of sunlight and Sunblock.
According to the Mayo Clinic:
2. Nourish Your Mind
Your thoughts shape your reality, so it’s important to feed your mind things that uplift and inspire you. Limit the noise that drains you—like endless scrolling or negative news—and replace it with learning, positive content, and mental stillness. Personally, I have curated my social media to align with where I am on my journey. I removed pages and people that brought up negative feelings for me. It has helped so much. I used to turn on the radio when I would be in the car. Now it is a podcast, audiobook or youtube channel. You can always catch me learning something. Use your downtime to do something productive. That hobby you want to get back into? Do it. That language class you want to take? Do it. That garden you want to start? Why not start it? Journaling, reading, or even just taking 5 minutes to breathe can refresh your mind. It doesn't have to be big, it just has to be present.
3. Nourish Your Spirit
Your spirit craves connection, joy, and meaning. This might look like prayer, meditation, spending time in nature, or engaging in a creative hobby. Whatever makes your soul feel alive—make time for it. Living your purpose is a great way to nourish your spirit also. There is something about giving or serving people that cannot do anything in return for you that soothes the soul in the best way. Try volunteering at a food bank, hospital or animal shelter. There is a peace that comes with service that you cannot got anywhere else.
Closing Thoughts
Nourishment is the foundation of self-care. When you feed your body, mind, and spirit with love, you create the energy and joy to flourish in every area of life. Start with one small act of nourishment today, and let it ripple into everything else.
Affirmation for Today:
"I deserve to be nourished in every way, and I honor myself by giving my body, mind, and spirit what they need."
Journal Prompt:
"What is one nourishing act I can commit to this week for my body, my mind, and my spirit?"
Vitamin D is a nutrient the body needs, along with calcium, to build bones and keep them healthy. The body can absorb calcium only if it has enough vitamin D. Calcium is a major part of bones. Vitamin D also has many other uses in the body. It supports immune health and helps keep muscles and brain cells working.
